Our overarching goal for the Education Committee is to connect businesses and education entities within the region, engage and obtain buy-in from the business community, and increase student engagement. This Committee works to achieve the following: 

1. Create partnerships among school principals and businesses;
2. Obtain sponsorships and participants for hosting student tables at Chamber events;
3. Host education supply drives;

Our April speaker is Hayley Knapp, Master Student at Florida Atlantic University

Can you identify individuals in a wild dolphin population? Yes, you can! Over the last 40 years, The Wild Dolphin Project (WDP)––founded by Dr. Denise Herzing–– has studied Atlantic Spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) in the Bahamas, focusing its research on understanding their behavior, ecology, life-history, and acoustics. Through rigorous photo identification methods and a hands-off approach, the WDP has been able to develop a unique, respectful relationship with the Spotted dolphins living in the Bahamas. The project even knows the individuals by name! Their current graduate student, Hayley Knapp, is a masters student at Florida Atlantic University and is working on tracing paternity and genetic diversity by using fecal DNA to match calves to their parents. This is just one area of research the WDP focuses on. Join us in learning about the Wild Dolphin Project as we hear about the exciting research they are doing and how Hayley’s research ties in!

Join the River Center for our Bloomin’ in the Garden program, designed for children ages 3-6. This month’s theme is Lucky Ladybugs!

The program will start at 10:00am with story time and a nature-themed craft. We will then move to our garden for exploration and hands-on fun. When it’s time to go home, children will receive seed to take home to start their own garden! So don’t miss this exciting chance for you and your little ones to enjoy nature together!

Limited to 15 children (+ their accompanying adults).

This activity is outside, so dress comfortably and be ready to possibly get a little messy.

All equipment will be provided and this program is free of charge. Donations are always welcome.

Steeped in Success: Brewing a Community of Women’s Mentorship
Annual Tea hosted by the Women in Business Council

Maltz Jupiter Theatre is offering an opportunity for children to get professional experience at a Broadway level through its “First Steps to Stardom” audition day on April 13 starting at 10am, offering roles for females between 7-13 years old to be cast in the Theatre's 2024/2025 Frozen and Once productions.

Participants will learn a simple dance combination and will be coached in singing a short song. After a few practice rounds, those auditioning will be escorted to the brand new Maltz Jupiter Theatre stage to perform the song and dance combination for consideration.  After each participant has auditioned, the casting professionals will determine which children have earned a spot in one of the upcoming Broadway hits being performed this season and the opportunity to work with award-winning directors and choreographers. 

Each audition room will have multiple adults present throughout the day to support the children. Students selected to perform in the season productions must be available for rehearsals leading up to the shows and be present for each performance during its run.

Let’s get outside!

Join the River Center for our Tots on Trails program, designed for children ages 2-6! Each month, we’ll explore a new natural area in the Jupiter/Tequesta area. This month, we’ll be at Cypress Creek.

**THIS IS AN OFF-SITE PROGRAM!** We will meet in the natural area parking lot at 10:00 am. Together, we’ll walk the trail, observe plants and animals with our magnifying glasses & binoculars, and explore nature.

Adults and children should come prepared to be outside for an hour. This includes comfortable clothing, closed toe shoes, hats, sunscreen, bug spray, and water bottles.

Limited to 20 children (+ their accompanying adults). Siblings of all ages are welcome, just include them in your registration! This program is free of charge.

The Ambassador Committee is a diverse group of business professionals and valued Chamber members. The Ambassador Committee is critical to enabling the Chamber to welcoming and orienting our valued new members.

As an extension of our Chamber team, our Ambassador Committee enhances the overall value of Chamber membership. On an ongoing basis, the Committee connects with new and existing members, helping them to best target their networking and business development efforts.

New members must meet certain longevity requirements to serve as an ambassador. However, new and current members, are welcome to join for a meeting or two before deciding to join.

Walk along the guided paths and immerse yourself in this local natural area. We will explore a rugged path inside Cypress Creek filled with high grasses, mud, standing water, and thick bushes.

Interested participants should wear long pants, a walking stick, bug spray, comfortable clothing and bring plenty of water.

CLOSED TOE SHOES ARE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE.

Water may be knee deep water in some locations, so you may want to bring a towel and some dry clothes/shoes for after the hike.

Beth is a global thought-leader in new mobility and smart city ecosystems and is responsible for assisting transportation agencies, cities and regions in developing smart and connected infrastructure solutions.

Previously, she served as Florida Transportation Commissioner from 2012-2019. Beth also served as president and CEO of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce . Prior to this role, Beth served in various private sector leadership positions, within engineering and other firms, in areas such as finance, business development, quality assurance, and government relations.
 

Beth is active on numerous appointed boards and industry associations, including the ITS World Congress Board of Directors; SelectFlorida Board of Directors; Co-Chair, ITS America Advanced Air Mobility Working Group; Vice Chair of Florida Polytechnic University Board of Trustees; University of Florida Transportation Institute External Board of Advisors; Florida Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; chair, Autonomous Florida; Leadership Florida where she served as Chair, Board of Directors 2017-2018; and more.
