The \;Palm Beach North \;Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee will host their quarterly seminar on Wednesday\, January 10\, 2018 \;at Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience \;from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.\n
This month'\;s seminar will focus on Innovations in Healthcare with Guest Speakers:

\nDr. Hyunghae Kwon of Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience - "\;iTango"\;: Neuromodulation in the brain in real time. The technique is called \;iTango\, \;and \;will be useful for \;visualizing and manipulating the neuronal circuitry that underlies drug-induced behaviors and psychiatric diseases related to neuromodulation\, such as mood disorders or \;schizophrenia.
\nAbout Dr. Kwon: \nThe projects in Dr. Kwon&rsquo\;s lab focus on understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms of experience-dependent neural circuit modification using a mouse model. The research uses cutting-edge imaging/physiology techniques such as two-photon imaging/uncaging and optogenetics at the level of synapses and circuits to define molecular and physiological mechanisms in synapse/circuit development.
\nWe are also developing novel techniques that label and manipulate selective neural circuits that lead to an animals&rsquo\; behavior. By having this technique\, we will be able to dissect out specific learning circuits with a high spatiotemporal resolution. Furthermore\, neural circuits involved in fine\, complex behaviors will possibly be investigated.

\nAbout Dr. Campbell: David R. Campbell\, M.D. is an orthopedic spinal surgeon practicing in South Florida for over 25 years. He spent many years as a spinal trauma surgeon and had the privilege and honor to serve as a Major in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps. Dr. Campbell is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery in the University of Central Florida\, College of Medicine.
\nHe has personal and professional interest in helping with the substance-abuse crisis gripping the United States and plaguing the world. Substance-abuse is a topic he has discussed on national television in his role as a medical contributor for MSNBC on the Morning Joe cable news show\, hosted by Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzenzski.
