The brain is quite possibly one of the most complex and least understood objects in the universe but understanding how it works is critical to unlocking potential treatments for devasting neurological disorders. The Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience is on a mission to understand how the brain functions, from the tiniest molecules to massively complex networks of neurons. Using a curiosity-driven approach, MPFI brings together outstanding scientists with a broad range of expertise in a collaborative environment designed to stimulate the development of innovative approaches to understanding the structure, function, and development of neural circuits. In this presentation, you will hear about the cutting-edge work being done by Max Planck Florida scientists and learn how Max Planck embraces a culture of creativity and innovation to train and inspire the next generation of scientists.
After a brief lecture, you’ll have a behind-the-scenes look at MPFI’s electron microscopy core and machine shop and experience first-hand activities that MPFI brings to local schools to foster an interest in neuroscience and careers in STEM.
