Friends of the Arts of Juno Beach presents “The Art of the Highwaymen” art exhibition, a collection of original paintings from the private collection of Roger Lightle, Highwaymen Art Specialists, Inc.
The exhibition will be held at the Juno Beach Town Center from January 23rd to March 12th with an opening night artist’s reception on Friday, January 23rd. The exhibition will feature paintings by some of the original Florida Highwaymen artists including: Mary Ann Carroll, Willie Daniels, Alfred Hair, Roy McLendon, Harold Newton, Sam Newton, and Livingston Roberts. Some of the artwork will be available for purchase.
The public is invited to the opening night reception which will be held at the Juno Beach Town Center, located at 340 Ocean Drive in Juno Beach, on Friday, January 23rd. Meet Juno Beach Town Council members during Council Hour from 4-5pm and then the art program will follow from 5-7pm.
Along with viewing the artwork, guests will enjoy hearing from Roger Lightle, owner of Highwaymen Art Specialists, Inc., who will speak about the history of the art and artists. In addition, Doug Schwab who is the founder and CEO of Maverick Entertainment will discuss his recent film Legends of the Highway, which follows the true story of the Florida Highwaymen, 26 self-taught African American artists who forged their own path to success in the segregated 1950's and 60's.
The event is free to attend and complimentary refreshments will be available. Parking is available at the Town Center. RSVP to junobeacharts@gmail.com requested. The artwork will be on display at the Town Center through March 12th.
