Welcome to our newest event, presented by the Women In Business Council. The Woman Effect is a virtual podcast-style interview with women who have made it, in a male dominated industry. Guests will be CEOs and/or executives from various industries all over the US. The entire event will be one hour, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. The first 30-minutes will be the guest telling her story on FB Live while the second 30 minutes will be an intimate discussion with up to 20 women "offline" in Zoom.
This week's interviewees are:
- Krystyna Krakowski, Firefighter

City of Palm Beach Gardens
Krystyna Krakowski is 47 years young! She currently works for the city of Palm Beach Gardens Fire Department for the past 17 and a 1/2 years as a firefighter/paramedic. She was promoted to rescue Lieutenant 2 years ago. She is an active member on the City's Honor Guard, Wellness Committee as well as a fire instructor for her department. Prior to this department, She worked as a volunteer and paid firefighter for a year and a half at another department, down south. Even after almost 20 years on the job, she still loves her profession. Over the years as things are constantly changing and evolving, she still loves the challenges both physical and mental that come with her job. She also believes that in her profession, compassion plays just as much a part as the physical demands. They are the first face that someone sees, and it is their duty to be kind and compassionate as first responders as they see and experience hundreds of calls a year; this trauma is only one for them. On her off days Krystyna enjoys time with her kids and family, CrossFit, mountain biking, hanging with her girl gang and napping is a MUST!
Jodi Kalish is a police officer with the Palm Beach Garden’s Police Department. She started with the department in September 2018 and has since joined the department’s honor guard, hostage negotiation force, critical incident stress management team, and serves as the city’s homeless liaison. She has been awarded Officer of the Year with the American Legion for 2020 and has earned Officer of the Quarter in 2019 and twice in 2020 during her time with the department. Jodi attended school at Florida Atlantic University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work.
As a Florida native, when not at work, Jodi enjoys taking in the salty air whether it’s running along the coastline or walking her pug, Penelope. You may also find her at your local Starbucks shop.
Jodi states:
"I am currently employed with the City of Palm Beach Gardens as a Police Officer. Historically, the profession has been male dominated. As a woman, I believe that women are continuously discouraged from joining the ranks as they feel they will have to compete with men with alpha-like personalities. It's my opinion that women believe this because that is what society has traditionally told us whether it be through social media, stereotypes, etc. In my experience, that is far from true. If you are an independent, courageous, and confident woman, we have the ability to do anything that our counterparts are able to. Equally, we can climb the ladder within the department and become promoted to various positions.
"Initially, I was drawn to the profession because I enjoy helping others and want to make a lasting impact on my community. Within the realm of mental health, our community continues to be in dire need of these services. As someone who specializes in mental health (with my education and training), I long to help these individuals get the help they need. Resources are so readily available to said individuals, but they are often-times misguided or never given the attention they need.
"In closing, I think the profession is ever changing. More women have the ability to join the force and should not feel discouraged as the opportunities as a police officer are endless."

Event Cancellation Policy:
A notice of cancellation must be received by email within 72 hours (3 business days) prior to the event. NO verbal cancellations will be accepted. All cancellation notices received within 72 hours (3 business days) prior to the event will be given an event credit of equal value. Event credits will be applied upon request and are good for up to 1 year from the purchase date. There are NO REFUNDS.
NOTE:
ArtiGras Tickets, Loggerhead Triathlon Registrations, and The Leadership Awards Dinner do not qualify for an event credit upon cancellation. Contributions or gifts to the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes.
