My name is Merina, and I’m a proud South Florida native, currently living in Stuart. I enjoy surfing, hiking along trails and beaches, spending time with friends and family, and thrifting. I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management. While at UF, I ran a student-led nonprofit dedicated to alleviating food insecurity by building and maintaining garden beds in underserved areas of Alachua County. This experience ignited my passion for helping others and made me realize how impactful community-driven efforts can be.
Currently, I’m the Outreach Director and Clinical Associate at Stoked On Life, a nonprofit focused on providing, promoting, and researching aquatic therapy for individuals dealing with mental health and substance use challenges. In my role as Outreach Director, I attend conferences, create marketing materials, and collaborate with sponsors, donors, and treatment centers to fund our programs and raise awareness about the benefits of aquatic therapy. I’m also a Clinical Associate, where I work one-on-one with adolescents and teens using our Blue Mind Curriculum.
As an avid surfer and nature lover, I’m passionate about protecting and preserving our marine ecosystem. I’m also responsible for ensuring that Stoked On Life maintains sustainable partnerships, while hosting and collaborating on beach cleanups and ocean conservation initiatives.
