Melissa is a former Palm Beach County Commissioner and current Vice President of Government Relations for WGI, a national multidisciplinary engineering and design consulting firm. Prior to elected office, Melissa spent twenty years serving as a Legislative Aide in local government, the United States Senate, and Congress.
Melissa served as the 2020-2021 President of the Florida Association of Counties and on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Counties. She is a former Chair of the National Association’s Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee, the only woman and Floridian to ever do so. She was also appointed by the Biden/Harris Administration to the Environmental Protection Agency’s Local Government Advisory Committee.
Past appointments include:15th Circuit State Attorney Addiction Recovery Task Force, Palm Beach County Transportation Planning Agency, Children’s Services Council, Business Development Board Executive Committee, and was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court Task Force on Mental Health & Substance Abuse in the Courts.
Melissa has spent more than 25 years as a Junior League member and served two terms as State Chairwoman of the Junior Leagues of Florida, the statewide advocacy arm of the League. She currently serves on the HCA Florida PalmsWest Hospital Board of Trustees and the South Florida Fair Board of Directors.
Melissa completed the prestigious Governing Magazine’s Women in Government Leadership Institute for the nation’s Top 25 State & Local Elected Women, is a graduate of Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class 37, and a Florida Association of Counties’ Certified County Commissioner.
Her proudest accomplishment? Her three children top the list.
