THE EDUCATION FOUNDATION OF PALM BEACH COUNTY ANNOUNCES TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Michael O’Neill and Ashley Vertuno to Help Further the Foundation’s Mission
(Lake Worth Beach, Fla.) – The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, which serves as a nexus between the county’s public schools and the community, has announced that Michael O’Neill and Ashley Vertuno have joined its Board of Directors.
“We are proud and honored to add Michael and Ashley to our impressive roster of Board members,” said James Gavrilos, President and CEO of the Education Foundation. “Their passion, dedication and background will help us further our mission of transforming education and ensuring every student in Palm Beach County has the opportunity to thrive.”
O’Neill is a project executive at Proctor Construction Company and was heavily involved in the project management and construction of the Education Foundation’s brand new Center for Public School Excellence and Innovation in Lake Worth Beach. He has a proven track record of success working on both public and private projects including multifamily, K-12, higher education and commercial work for both new construction and renovation projects. He has been at Proctor since 2022. Previously he was a project manager at Wharton-Smith, Inc. and served in the U.S. Air Force. O’Neill is a resident of Stuart and has a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from the University of Central Florida.
Vertuno is the CEO of HCA Florida JFK North Hospital where she oversees the strategic, operational and financial performance of a 280-bed acute care facility that serves the communities of Palm Beach County. She is a Boynton Beach resident and has more than 11 years of healthcare administration experience. In 2024, she received the Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year by the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She was also a 2023 Emerging Leader by Modern Healthcare, a 40 Under 40 honoree by the South Florida Business Journal, a 2022 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award finalist for her leadership and achievements in the community and healthcare industry and was also recognized as a Go Red for Women champion for the American Heart Association. In addition to the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, she has served in leadership roles for various charitable organizations including the American Heart Association and the Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida. Vertuno has her bachelor’s degree in business from Virginia Commonwealth University and her master’s degree in health administration from the University of South Carolina.
The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County was founded in 1984 and awards grants, supports innovative programs and scholarships, and provides necessary school supplies and resources from Red Apple Supplies, the Foundation’s signature program. The Education Foundation operates over 100 programs which close achievement gaps in learning, prepare students for post-secondary success and create positive, measurable change for over 100,000 students.
