Guests will be CEOs and/or executives from various industries all over the US. The entire event will be one hour, from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. The first 30-minutes will be the guest telling her story on FB Live while the second 30 minutes will be an intimate discussion with up to 20 women "offline" in Zoom.
This week's speaker: Rachal Garza, Flight Test Engineer, Lockheed Martin
As an engineer, Rachel has lived outside of her comfort zone since college in order to work in the male-dominated aviation industry, which she has been passionate about since childhood. This passion is shared by many industry women who don’t always feel supported, so Rachel dedicates her energy to connecting women and allies, supporting them in their professional development, and mentoring, sponsoring, and advocating for those who aren’t always able to find their voice.
After receiving her degree in aerospace engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Rachel started her engineering career at the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, where she worked as an astronaut instructor for the International Space Station program and served as a flight controller in the Mission Control Center. After leaving TX, she worked as a systems engineer at GE Aviation before moving to her current role.
Rachel is now a propulsion flight test engineering manager at Lockheed Martin, West Palm Beach. She leads the team responsible for all aspects of propulsion system flight testing conducted on helicopters designed by Sikorsky Aircraft. She also serves as the LM Women’s Impact Network ERG Chair, overseeing chapters across the country and developing the strategy to serve the women and allies at LM.
Rachel lives in Tequesta with her husband and two very high energy boys.
