The Town of Lake Park is seeking a Maintenance Worker to join our Public Works Department – Infrastructure Maintenance division. Under the supervision of the Streets & Roads Maintenance Foreman, the Maintenance Worker performs semi-skilled and skilled tasks primarily related to the Town's street maintenance activities. Employees in this classification are responsible for ensuring assigned work is completed efficiently and following safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform street maintenance tasks, including asphalt patching, pothole repairs, and sidewalk maintenance.
- Operate heavy machinery and specialized tools required for street maintenance activities.
- Assist with routine inspections and preventative maintenance of streets and roadways.
- Perform painting, signage installation, and other roadway marking tasks.
- Support stormwater drainage maintenance and minor repairs.
- Load, unload, and transport materials needed for roadwork and repairs.
- Respond to emergency call-ins, including hurricanes and other critical events.
- Support event setup and breakdown activities as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in street maintenance or Public Works.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain a valid Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License within six (6) months of employment.
- No loss of driving privileges due to revocation, suspension, or denial of license in the past 24 months.
- No convictions or adjudications withheld of three (3) or more moving violations in the previous 24 months.
- Knowledge of street maintenance techniques and materials.
- Proficiency in operating street maintenance equipment such as asphalt rollers, compactors, and loaders.
- Familiarity with occupational safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Heavy work requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
- Required physical abilities include balancing, climbing, crouching, grasping, handling, hearing, lifting, pulling, pushing, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.
- Work performed with exposure to adverse conditions such as dust, humidity, machinery, odors, rain, vibrations, and hazardous materials.
- Compliance with all Town safety policies and procedures is required.
