Busch Wildlife Sanctuary at Abramson & Schlaggar Reserve, a renowned nonprofit dedicated to the protection and conservation of Florida’s wildlife and environmental education center, is excited to announce it has received a $25,000 grant from the nonprofit Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida to support its environmental education programs and continued care for its permanent animal residents.
Busch Wildlife Sanctuary has a two-fold mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured wildlife and educate the community on environmental conservation. Admission to the Sanctuary is donation-based, and the organization offers over 600 free educational programs to the over 240,000 children & adults who visit annually. The Sanctuary is home to over 200 native wild animals that cannot be released back to their natural habitats due to permanent impairment.
The $25,000 grant will help advance this free educational programming, continue providing top-notch care for our permanent animal residents, and support the organization’s dedicated staff members who work seven days a week, 365 days a year caring for these animals.
Funds will go toward providing free or discounted tours for Title 1 schools to other disadvantaged youth groups, adding more educational programming to offer a minimum of 5 daily, covering monthly wellness checks for permanent animal residents, and more.
