Historic Donation Propels Jupiter Medical Center into a New Era

Jupiter, FL – January 8,  2026 – Yesterday, Jupiter Medical Center announced a transformative $35 million philanthropic gift from Tim and Jayne Donahue, marking the largest gift in the independent, not-for-profit hospital’s history and a milestone for health care in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. The funds are earmarked to support the regional medical center’s new Patient Care Tower. The $135 million building is on the hospital’s main campus at 1210 S. Old Dixie Highway and is scheduled to open later this month. As the lead gift, the tower has been named in their honor. The Tim and Jayne Donahue Patient Care Tower signage was unveiled at the ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 7, marking a historic moment for the institution.

“On behalf of our patients, medical staff, and the entire community, we are profoundly grateful to Tim and Jayne Donahue for this historic investment,” said Amit Rastogi, MD, MHCM, President and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center, while making the announcement during a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the Tower. “Their donation accelerates our vision to expand access to exceptional care, strengthens our specialty programs, and honors the promise that every patient deserves the highest-quality health care close to home."

The 92-bed, five-story facility will expand the hospital’s inpatient capacity, bringing its total to 340 beds. Additionally, the Tower is organized by medical specialties, featuring state-of-the-art oncology and cardiovascular floors, as well two dedicated orthopedic floors, each with rehabilitation services. This care delivery model has been shown to result in the best possible outcomes, as the clinical teams on the floors encompassing doctors, nurses, specialists, and beyond—will be specifically trained to care for these patients. The Tower also features a      high-tech Clinical Simulation Center dedicated to providing hands on training, skills development, teamwork, communications testing, workflows and new technology to promote innovation and ensure the highest levels of patient safety. The building sits adjacent to a newly opened five-story parking pavilion.

“We chose to give because Jupiter Medical Center is more than a hospital; it’s a lifeline for our growing community,” said Tim and Jayne Donahue. “We were inspired by its culture of putting patients first, its award-winning care, and the hospital’s leadership and bold vision for the future. Our gift reflects our belief in giving back and ensuring that exceptional care stays close to home for generations to come. This is a gift for many, not just a few.”

Tim Donahue was a telecommunications pioneer, best known for his leadership as President and CEO of Nextel Communications, which he transformed into a Fortune 200 company. The Donahues split their time between Palm Beach Gardens and Nantucket and shared that, since arriving in the Northern Palm Beach County area, they have been impressed by the hospital’s commitment to patients. Their giving journey started in 2018 when they made a $5 million gift to support the hospital’s growing cardiac surgery program.

“Tim and Jayne Donahue’s extraordinary generosity is a gift to every family in our region,” said Traci Simonsen, Chief Philanthropy Officer of Jupiter Medical Center Foundation. “Their donation will extend beyond this physical space to ensure a healthier future for our entire community. We are honored by their trust and inspired by their vision.”
