Job Title: Associate Attorney (For Business/Litigation)

Overview:

Under the direction of the principal attorney, an associate attorney must have the ability to work effectively as a team member while also handling an individual caseload. Associate attorney must have a strong commitment to achieving excellent results for our clients through intelligent and aggressive advocacy. An associate attorney must also have a strong commitment to exceptional work ethic, high motivation, willingness to work hard to serve our clients, and display a positive attitude and ability to work well with a variety of people. The associate attorney must be able to demonstrate leadership skills and possess excellent oral advocacy skills, thorough writing skills, and solid negotiation skills.

The associate attorney is an Exempt position.

Reporting Relationship:

Associate attorneys perform their duties under the direction of the Managing Partner/Firm Owner. Associate attorneys’ employment relationship with the Firm is managed by the Managing Partner.

Authority:

Associate attorneys must be licensed with The Florida Bar.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages a large caseload.
  • Manage full case handling responsibilities from inception through settlement/end of representation.
  • Handle the drafting and filing of pleadings, motions, and memoranda of law, and conduct legal research with respect to same
  • Attend depositions, prepare witnesses for depositions, handle court hearings, and handle trials as necessary and assigned.
  • Develop collaborative strategies and advise clients regarding their best interests, serving as the principal contact between the Firm and clients.
  • Effectively take or monitor statements of clients or third parties.
  • Independently handle decision making on a case-by-case basis.
  • Regularly consult with clients and other parties as needed to effectively move cases forward and to resolution.
  • Develop a strategic approach and provide leadership and direction to paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Develop a business development plan to be approved by the Managing Partner and implement the same including, but not limited to, attending networking events and other functions, writing articles, and speaking engagements.
  • Participate in semi-weekly meetings and/or calls with the Managing Partner to discuss status of ongoing matters, workload, and other firm matters.
  • Work as part of a team with all levels of experiences.
  • Cultivate relationships with the Firm’s existing and future clients.
  • Participate in monthly case reviews.
  • Confirm vital correspondence and notices with clients and other parties.
  • Analyze case-specific legal issues and documentation.
  • Foster and maintain an excellent rapport with clients through consistent communication and thorough advisement.

Daily

  • Review daily reminders
  • Review daily, weekly, and upcoming monthly calendar items and prioritize work load
  • Complete tasks
  • Triage and prioritize responses to emails and phone calls
  • Organize, sort, and summarize case information and files
  • Draft letters/reports/ documents
  • Prepare responses to discovery demands
  • Prepare for meetings/ statements /depositions

Weekly

  • Meet with legal team for case status updates
  • Provide client updates

Monthly

  • Attend Case Status Update meetings and update records
  • Complete monthly settlement goals
  • Complete monthly demand goals

Education & Experience:

  • Be a graduate of an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the State of Florida.
  • Possess 4-6 years of business litigation experience.
  • Be in good standing with The Florida Bar.
  • Trial experience is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual Salary = $110,000-$125,000 based on experience.
  • 90-day probationary period
  • 120 hours/year or 3 weeks of vacation leave, as accrued, available for use after successful completion of probationary period.
  • 40 hours/year or 1 week of sick leave time paid, as accrued and needed, available for use after successful completion of probationary period.
  • Health plan benefits, eligible after successful completion of 90-day probationary period
  • Medical, Vision and Dental, with 75% of employee only insurance premium paid by employer.
  • 12 Paid Holidays/year

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
